Peace Arch Dedication (Sam Hill) Days
September 6th, 2008

Join us on Saturday September 6th, 2008, 1 PM to 4 PM,
at the Peace Arch as we welcome the late Samuel Hill and other re-enactors to commemorate the Peace Arch's history on its' 87th anniversary.

If you like, you can dress up in the style of the 1920's, or just put on your favorite hat and join the celebration as we turn the park into a living history exhibit.
Enjoy 1920's period costumes, history exhibit, live 1920's music, children's games, antique cars, refreshments, and more.

Did You Know...
In 1921 the Charlie Chaplin movie, The Kid and The Sheik starring Valentino opens in movie theaters; Hit songs on the radio inlcude “Ain’t We Got Fun” and “Second Hand Rose”;
First apearances in the marketplace included the products Wrigleys Gum, Eskimo Pies, Band Aids and Drano; In the USA it was a time of Prohibition and the Speakeasy; Warren G. Harding is President of the United States; The first Armistice Day is Proclaimed; 3.5 million people are out of work;
The first Miss America Pageant was held in Atlantic City; A bill was proposed in Iowa to imprison any woman who wore her skirt higher than three inches above her ankle.
Queen Marie of Romania attended the dedication of the International Peace Arch with its founder Samuel Hill.

Downtown Blaine September 6th, 2006
On Wednesday September 6th and Saturday September 9th 2006, we welcomed the late Samuel Hill and other reenactors back to Blaine to commemorate the Peace Arch's history on its' 85th anniversary.
Wednesday September 6th, 10 AM - 5 PM, the Blaine Post Office held a Peace Arch 85th Anniversary Postal Pictorial Commemoration.

On Wednesday September 6th, 2006, an Official Postal Pictorial Commemoration Ceremony with Sam Hill, the Queen of Romania and other members of the dedication party was held.

On Wednesday September 6th, 2006, Blaine Merchants as they celebrate Sam Hill's return to Blaine by dressing up in the style
of the 1920's.

In 2006, we are looking forward to the triumphant
return of the Blaine Juvenile Band. The band was last seen
September 6, 1921 at the dedication ceremony.
