Lion & Cub

Who knew you can make
a lions mane with driftwood? The lion has been on my list of sculptures to build, but I couldn't decide how to make his mane. After making a horses mane, I knew I could do it. The eyes are ceramic drawer pulls. The cub is all teak and built-in Thailand as I could not find driftwood.

Tortuosity

The needle point pose is one of the most difficult dance positions due to its extreme bends. It represents any art form taken to its pinnacle. The dancer is looking skyward, representing even higher goals. Bronze. Larry Schessel, Raleigh, NC.

Mandala

The Mandala Series are metaphors about life. It is a guardian to watch over the earth and the knowledge that is contained in all of us. The top glass piece is
a mandala or the circle of life.
It represents beginnings and endings; the spiral means what goes around comes back around. Media: Steel and Glass. Shirley Ericksen, Bellingham, WA.

Life In Between

Symbol of life flowing through the body, mind, and soul. Observe each point of connection in my sculpture. Media: Aluminum. Serge Mozhnevsky, Coquitlam, BC.

Fractal Mandala

The top piece of this sculpture represents a fractal or a repeating and expanding pattern. The glass that looks like water represents change or growth. The sculpture
is a metaphor about the patterns we all make in our lives and how difficult it is to break them. Media: Steel and Glass. Shirley Ericksen, Bellingham, WA

Rocketman

Rocket Man symbolizes man's urge to explore the world and the universe. The man on the rocket embodies the saying "Man's
Reach Exceeds His Grasp."
It is a homage to the
National Aeronautics and
Space Administration. In
many ways, NASA has
embodied the belief that
applied science can take
us beyond imagination
boundaries. Media:

Fun on a Bike

A whimsical sculpture of a figurative woman riding a bike into the wind. A taste of the joy and freedom of riding a bicycle on the beach in the summertime. Media: Recycled bicycle and Aluminum scrap metal. Ron Simmer, Burnaby, BC.

Owl

I recently discovered my
talent with driftwood.
At age 62, four years ago,
I built a small triceratops.
It got so much attention,
and people started calling
me an artist. Since that
time, I have created 40
